THE WAR FOR TALENT

Leaner times mean less room for mediocrity and greater dependence on the high performers: leaders who are not only technically sophisticated but also interpersonally persuasive; managers capable of communicating and excelling in an increasingly cross-functional environment. Unless you are one of those rare naturals, public speaking courses, sales workshops or even English studies are even a more important adjunct to your educational credentials.

In addition, be prepared to invest more time in your job search. We have noticed longer cycle times for completed searches. Our current political and economic uncertainties seem to be prolonging the decision making process for both our clients and candidates. Hence, it is crucial to focus and pursue only those opportunities that will meet your prior determined career goals. Although exploring new opportunities can be exciting, if you are like most people during these times, you will probably end up turning down an offer and wasting a lot of people's time-not a good way to expand your network.
