Toronto, Ontario - February 19, 2003 - Fulcrum Search Science Inc., a Canadian-owned executive search and human capital management firm, was introduced today to profile its scientific approach that takes the guesswork out of recruiting. The firm is led by a Toronto-based team of recruiting and talent management specialists with more than 30 years experience in the Canadian marketplace. Fulcrum Search Science eliminates risks by using a proven methodology to leverage search, candidate assessment and process control in every assignment. In addition to recruiting permanent and contract executives, the firm offers counsel in succession planning, organizational structure, human resources management, recruitment and retention and provides access to psychological testing services. It serves clients across Canada and has core search expertise in varied skill-sets, such as general management, sales/marketing, finance/accounting, manufacturing, logistics and engineering. The Fulcrum approach entails a breadth of search integrating six tactics, five-levels of candidate assessment checks and a process of 20 end-to-end steps designed to minimize the unexpected. "Given the cost of attrition and the increasing recognition of internal talent's impact on the bottom line, it's imperative for organizations to make accurate hiring decisions," says Bruce McAlpine, President, Fulcrum Search Science. In Topgrading - How Leading Companies Win by Hiring, Coaching and Keeping the Best People, Bradford Smart, PhD, cites the average true cost of a miss-hire as up to 28 times the employee's annual base compensation - and this cost increases significantly with the level of the individual. This cost includes recruiting, training, salary loss during the disciplinary process and potential litigation fees, among others. Fulcrum draws its expertise from recruiting specialists who fine-tuned their approach within Keith Bagg & Associates Inc., a division of the Keith Bagg Group, through more than 2,000 searches. This process netted an assignment completion rate of three times the North American industry average, according to a 1998 independent survey completed by the National Association of Personnel Services (NAPS). The name "Fulcrum"
originates from a Greek quote by Archimedes that attributed a long lever
and a fulcrum with the power to move the world. "Fulcrum uses its
scientific search process to improve its clients' worlds and remove hiring
risks," explains McAlpine. In the coming months, Fulcrum will collaborate
with Canadian industry and business management schools to share best practices
and increase understanding of its precise process. The firm will continue to work as a strategic alliance to the Keith Bagg Group, one of Canada's longest reigning staffing solution firms, which includes Keith Bagg Information Technology Search Inc., Keith Bagg Staffing Resources Inc. and Keith Bagg Staffing (Regional) Inc. Fulcrum will also fulfill executive search assignments formerly handled by Keith Bagg & Associates Inc. Fulcrum Search Science
(www.fulcrumsearchscience.com) is a member of the Association of Canadian
Search, Employment and Staffing Services (ACSESS) and the American-based
NAPS. |
